Dylan Hughes

Fresh off a 2022 season in which he won a first Formula Drift event in just his third full season of drifting, Dylan Hughes has his sights set on one of the three podium spots for 2023. Hughes drives a 2JZ-powered BMW E46 with sponsorship from Royal Purple, Permatex and GT Radial tires and has been infatuated with tuner cars, speed and drifting most of his life.
 
His career began with amateur drift events at his home track, Evergreen Speedway in Washington, while working at the nearby DirtFish Rally School. A second-place overall finish in the 2018 Formula Drift ProSpec series standings landed him an opportunity at the top level of Formula Drift in the Pro Series and Hughes has not looked back with multiple podium finishes and the win at FD Orlando last May.
 
While not drifting, Hughes uses his talents as a master fabricator, welder and on-camera talent building cars and creating content at Whip, his shop in Southern California.

James Deane

This week Jacob sits down with the legendary, 3-time champ, James Deane. They chat about growing up in rural Ireland, what it is like to be one of the greatest of all time, and some of his most incredible memories. James Deane has established himself as one of the fastest- growing personalities in the sport and boasts the largest following of any Irish motorsport personality in the world. James began his competitive drift career in 2006 behind the wheel of a Ford Sierra in the Prodrift Junior Championship and in 2023 he is again behind the wheel of a Ford only this time it is a Mustang RTR Spec 5-FD in Formula Drift with 1,111 horsepower.
 
James makes his Formula Drift return, the world’s premiere drift series, after a three-year hiatus from the series which saw him take home the Championship in three consecutive seasons (2017, 2018, 2019).
 
However, during his hiatus from US drifting he was no stranger to winning, taking first at the DriftNeu North Cyprus Championship Finals, Goodwood Festival of Speed Driftkhana competition, the LZ Festival Mondello Park, multiple podiums in the Drift Masters European Championship and that’s just 2022.
 
As 2023 gets underway James will be in pursuit of a record setting 4th Formula Drift Championship and 3rd for RTR Motorsports.
